Card Game Redesign
The Card Game aspect of Soulshards was in dire need of renovation. The game was difficult to understand, the artwork was small and unimpressive, and the cards didn't look appealing. I was given the task of updating the UI of the cards to make them look more modern, and easy to read.
I changed the entire layout of the cards to split the cards into 50/50 between artwork and game. This split allows the artwork to shine, and make each card look appealing, while the game UI is at the bottom in an un-cluttered manner that allows players eyes to rest on each aspect easily.
The card back was next, throughout the redesign I touched on the Dodecahedron keystone in the Soulshards logo, it appears on each of the icons seen throughout the game now, so I used this opportunity to set a "D12" keystone in the back. Keeping the metallic border elements from the front, both sides now feel more uniform.
Finally I created a 3D model of the new cards.
The redesign has been met with overwhelmingly positive feedback from players, with many enjoying the simplified game aspect.
Card Paintings
These paintings were created to display gameplay cards. Each one required a visually impactful, unique, and striking artwork to show the ailments, spells and characters in an interesting way.
